Tavion, a Swedish energy company focused on developing, owning and operating battery parks across Europe, has secured a €16 million revolving bridge financing facility for the growth and execution of its Polish battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio. The financing, structured on a fully merchant basis, was provided by a European debt fund. Capcora acted as Tavion’s exclusive financial adviser, supporting the structuring and successful execution of the debt raising.
The initial transaction perimeter comprises the construction of two stand-alone BESS assets in Poland with a combined installed capacity of 39 MW / 78 MWh. Both assets are at ready-to-build stage and represent the inaugural projects within Tavion’s expanding battery storage platform in the country. The bridge financing was structured as a revolving facility and will not only support the construction of the projects, but also provide a dedicated tranche to fund their acquisition, thereby strengthening Tavion’s position in the Polish energy storage market. The facility is designed to offer flexible capital throughout the transition from acquisition to long-term construction financing.
The transaction marks another step in the expansion of battery storage infrastructure in Poland. By supporting the deployment of flexible storage capacity, the portfolio is expected to contribute to grid stability and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, in line with ongoing market developments across Central and Eastern Europe.
“This financing marks an important milestone for our battery storage activities in Poland,” said Katarzyna Suchcicka, Head of Poland at Tavion. “It enables us to move forward with two high-quality assets at a critical stage of execution. We see strong potential in the Polish market and remain committed to building a scalable, long-term energy storage platform that supports the integration of renewable energy and enhances grid flexibility.”
Alexander Kuhn, Managing Partner at Capcora, added: “This transaction highlights the growing importance of bridge financing solutions for merchant battery storage projects in Poland, particularly in a market environment where speed to market is critical to capture early revenue opportunities. As the BESS sector continues to mature, financing structures must balance the requirements of sponsors and lenders while addressing the challenges of a still nascent BESS financing market. We are pleased to have supported Tavion in securing this facility and taking an important step towards the further expansion of its battery storage platform in Poland.”
The financing was supported by a strong advisory team comprising Greenberg Traurig as legal adviser to the lenders, Norton Rose Fulbright as legal adviser to the borrower and provider of legal due diligence, and Wind Prospect as technical adviser.
